What the *bleep* is wrong with Charter Communications?

I NEVER RECEIVED A MODEM FROM YOU!

I have spent years trying to explain to these idiots that I used my own cable modem.

They billed me (well, really my mom as she was paying for it at the time) for modem rental back when me and my sister lived together. I found out when closing that account and they refunded the money.

Then they sent a letter asking me to return a modem even though it specifically says on the installation form (from when I moved into my own place) that I had my own modem. I called and the CSR said he'd get it removed. I never got another letter about it and I figured it'd been fixed. This was months ago.

Tonight I open my mailbox and there's a letter from a debt collector. These jackasses sent a non-existent debit to collections!

And to make things worse, they sold the debt to these jerks! Apparently, the Credit Protection Association has a habit of violating the the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
I may be able to reach a human with the CPA at 1-800-800-6499 according to a complaint page about the CPA.

I've already called Charter about this. I managed to calm down enough during the call not to scream. I'm going to fax them my copy of my work order tomorrow. I don't know why THEY don't have copy of this themselves...

I'm too angry to sleep now. Gah, these were supposed to be nice happy entries about knitting but no, stupid jerk companies gotta try to ruin someone's credit.

The Drought Oct. 8th, 2007 @ 08:03 pm
Watering ban now the widest
What if drought worsens? No telling
State can only manage, not end, drought (includes a photo)
Water supply could be drained by Christmas
Thompson: Still waiting on drought plan
John Songster: Now, not later, is the time for tough action on water

The above should be in chronological order.

It is entirely possible that it will rain enough before the year ends that we won't need to enact a plan for when we actually run out of water. But I think I'd feel a lot better if there was a plan in place if it doesn't rain. Heck, I'd feel better if the plan was to make a plan soon. Waiting until a month away from there being no water to enact Plan F just feels like cutting it too close.

What's going to happen when there are home football games again? What about that? Has anyone considered what having thousands of visitors coming here in November is going to do to the water supply? People from out of state (heck, even in state but not in the drought area) won't know or care that we are at a level 4 drought. They aren't going to be mindful of their water usage. Maybe the estimate for when we'll run out of water already takes that into account but I wish they would say.

Am I overreacting? I hope I'm overreacting.
Gah, if it would just rain I wouldn't have to worry. Rain! C'mon, rain!

A Bit of Advice Sep. 23rd, 2007 @ 11:29 pm
Here's a little head's up: If you're taking Metformin fasting is a bad idea. Very, very, bad. Oh my goodness it is so bad. Don't eat just enough to take the Metformin and then fast. It is bad, you will pay, and you will not like it.

Bad idea.

Bad.

Don't fast if you're taking Metformin.

Georgia Democratic Candiates for Governor Debate Jul. 13th, 2006 @ 12:01 am
I only caught the last half hour.

Can someone tell me what the hell is wrong with Bill Bolton? The government should encourage abortions where a woman already has a certain number of kids? WTF?
